Ottmar Zieher was a postcard publisher based in
Munich
, (
Bavaria
)
Germany
. He had been a pioneer in the field of pictorial postcard publishing and was producing high quality color post cards as early as 1897. Between 1903 and 1906, he published a series of color post cards, each depicting different contemporary stamps of a particular country.
Known as the
Carte Philatelique
series, there are approximately 100 different postcard designs from this series, all numbered, some with Zieher’s imprint obliterated, some printed with embossed images and some were printed flat. There were many other publishers that imitated Zeiher designs and also published numerous postcards. Zieher cards are avidly collected by enthusiasts all over the world.
We maintain a listing and images (front and back) of Zeiher’s
Carte Philatelique
designs, and currently have approximately 60 different cards in our index.
