AlphaTRAK 2 Control Solution
By: Zoetis
AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Control Solution is used to
perform quality control testing on the AlphaTRAK Blood Glucose Monitoring
System. It allows you to make sure that your system is working correctly and it
helps to verify that blood glucose (sugar) readings are accurate and reliable.
What is the AlphaTRAK 2 Control Solution?
AlphaTRAK 2
Control Solution contains a fixed amount of glucose. It is used in conjunction
with the AlphaTRAK Glucose Monitoring Kit including glucometer and test strips.
Control solution helps ensure that your glucose meter is working properly so
that each test result is accurate and dependable. Each package contains 2
bottles (4 ml) of control solution.
Formulated for:
Dogs and cats. Not
for human use.
How does this product work?
Control solution
tests should be performed under the following circumstances: when you first get
the meter, before doing a blood test, when you begin using a new vial of test
strips, if you have forgotten to close the test strip vial, when you suspect
that the meter or test strips are not working properly, when the blood glucose
test results are not consistent with how the animal is acting, or when you
think the results are not accurate. A control test should also be run If you
drop the meter or upon the advice of a veterinarian. For detailed instructions
on how to run a control test, refer to your user manual. A control test is run
using the same procedures as with a drop of blood. Insert a test strip into the
meter and make sure your meter is set up and ready to use(see user manual).
Shake well and gently invert the control solution bottle. Wipe the tip with a
tissue and discard the first two drops. Apply and hold control solution to 1
sample area of the test strip until you see short lines moving clockwise on the
display or until you hear a beep. This indicates the test strip obtained enough
control solution and the meter is processing. If the test does not start after
applying the control solution, go to the Troubleshooting section. The result
appears on the display when the test is complete. The result should match the
glucose value range listed on the bottle of test strips if the meter and test
strips are working properly.
Uses:
AlphaTRAK 2 Control Solution is used with
the AlphaTRAK and AlphaTRAK 2 Glucose Starter Kit (including test strips and
glucometer). Control solution is used to run a test in order to verify the
accuracy of the AlphaTRAK and AlphaTRAK2 Glucose Meter and Test Strips. A
control test using control solution should be used in several situations. Tests
should be run when you use the meter for the first time, before doing a blood
test, when you begin using a new vial of test strips, if you have forgotten to
close the test strip vial, when you suspect that the meter or test strips are not
working properly, when the blood glucose test results are not consistent with
how the animal is acting, or when you think the results are not accurate. A
control test should also be run If you drop the meter or upon the advice of a
veterinarian. After running a control test, replace the cap on the bottle and
close it tightly.
Easy to use.
Helps to make sure each glucose(sugar) test result is reliable.
Compatible with AlphaTRAK and AlphaTRAK 2 Meters.
Precautions:
Glucose values using the AlphaTRAK
2 Glucose Monitor should range from 20-500 mg/dL. If the control test is not
within normal range, repeat the test and repeat the result. Errors can occur
because you are using improper test procedure if the code on the meter does not
match the code on the test strips, if test strips have been stored at improper
temperature, or if test solution has expired or has been diluted. If a control
test is still out of range after checking all of the above, contact the
manufacturer and/or refer to the troubleshooting section of the manual. Use
control solution for up to 3 months after opening or until the expiration date,
whichever comes first. Do not dilute control solution. For external use only.
Do not use internally. If control solution has been accidentally ingested,
contact your physician or poison control immediately for further instructions.
Do not use the AlphaTRAK 2 System in humans as it is specifically manufactured
for use in diabetic dogs and cats. At home blood monitoring is not a
substitution for regular veterinary care and should be used in conjunction with
testing and treatment by your veterinarian in order to treat your diabetic pet
as precisely as possible.
